Jason’s ability to motivate and inspire were evident as a child, getting up at 5 a.m. to train his body before school. He played for multiple local teams, and varsity at Millwood High School as a freshman. He spent multiple years playing AAU basketball with the Oklahoma City Trotters and Oklahoma City Saints. He was able to dunk better than most and touch the white on the backboard in 7th grade, this and his 7’ 2” wingspan had him heading for the NBA.
A diagnosis of Osteosarcoma cancer changed that and resulted in 18 months of chemotherapy and a complicated surgery to his left knee to remove the cancer. Though Jason would not let cancer take his ability to walk, the surgery made him ineligible for the NBA. His notoriety as a player had his story covered closely by the media through which a man named Donald Thrash reached out to him about transitioning into the world of adaptive sports.
Post-cancer, he played for the OSU Spokes wheelchair basketball team where he was MVP and MIP of the Arkansas Valley League and attended olympic trials. He became known as a huge defensive threat in the industry and in 2009 was signed to a team in Madrid, Spain.
His traveled throughout Europe for five years, where he played, developed sports connections and grew his knowledge of adaptive sports and physical fitness, as well as raised awareness and erasing stigmas associated with disabilities.
Today, Jason is a NASM certified personal trainer and a Strongfirst certified kettlebell Instructor. He has over 10,00 hours personal training and fitness experience and has privately trained over 200 clients, including some of the most recognized names in Oklahoma City.
